CHATHAM DOCKYARDS BATHHOUSE
CHATHAM DOCKYARDS BATHHOUSE
The project aims to establish a circular economy in Chatham and within the building. Addressing the disconnect between the dockyards and the town centre I aim to create a bathhouse inspired by the Romans who created these communal spaces. The proposal also involves modernising the concept to appeal to younger people, with the addition of weekend thermal bath parties inspired by the lively events at Szechenyi Baths in Budapest. Utilising water from the Medway River, cleaned through a water filtration process that takes the algae bloom and turns it into a biofuel for heating the water for the thermal baths, the bathhouse aims to revitalise Chatham by fostering community engagement and environmental sustainability.

Drawing from the building's current primary use in film production, notably seen in shows like "Call the Midwife," I've incorporated spatial dynamics reminiscent of the enchanting atmosphere found in Spirited Away's Bathhouse.
