Kingston Fabricated Heritage

The Fabricating Heritage project aimed to spark interest in Kingston's rich history, often overlooked. My goal was to design a modular tower to showcase different aspects of Kingston's heritage. Addressing the lack of playgrounds in the area, I created a playful structure made of stackable panels inspired by Kingston's sunsets and the rippling light on the Thames, providing children with interactive elements to enjoy.

We exhibited a portion of our design at the Stanley Picker Gallery. While our construction was successful, we recognized that the framework was too bulky. Therefore, we plan to use thinner width but greater depth of wood in the future to accentuate the panels that allow light to pass through. Additionally, we intend to incorporate a shadow gap between each attached panel for a more refined appearance.
